Lakeview Organic Farm, nestled in the townland of Cloghballybeg, Ireland, boasts a rich history dating back to 1666 when the Mortimer family was granted the land by Charles II. The estate features an 18th-century Deerpark, tree enclosures planted during the 1840s famine, and a garden layout influenced by Ailleen Mortimer’s 1930s designs. After years of neglect, Daphne and Jonathan Shackleton undertook a comprehensive restoration in the late 1990s, reviving the gardens and orchard with new plantings and structural repairs.

Today, the farm operates under certified organic standards, raising a suckler herd of Aberdeen Angus and Stabiliser cows, with all progeny finished on grass and red clover. The produce is sold through Leitrim Organic Farmers Coop, supplying retailers like Marks and Spencer and Tesco. The farm also includes plantations of ash, oak, and Scots pine, supporting a diverse ecosystem. Lakeview welcomes WWOOFers from around the world, offering them the opportunity to engage in organic farming practices, learn English, and experience the Irish countryside.
