FAQ

What are the delivery options and times?

- Beef orders are shipped via courier (“DPD next-day delivery”) on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday only. Orders placed on Saturday are dispatched the following Monday. Once shipped you get a tracking email. Boxes are rated to keep beef frozen for up to 72 hours.

- Local deliveries (within County Longford) occur on Saturday mornings only. You must provide a mobile number, and the farm can give an approximate delivery time; if no one is home they may leave the package safely if contact isn’t possible.

- Merchandise (e.g. non-food items) are dispatched via regular mail (AnPost) Monday–Friday, the day after ordering.

Why does delivery cost seem high?

Because the farm uses next-day courier service and special packaging to keep the beef frozen and safe, the delivery cost is higher. The farm states they don’t profit from that charge.

Is fresh beef available in addition to frozen?

Yes. Fresh beef becomes available whenever the farm gets animals back from the butcher, generally Fridays and Saturdays. The site encourages checking their social media for updates.

Can I just drop in and buy beef without ordering?

Yes. The farm shop holds a generous stock of beef. If you’d like to come outside their posted shop hours, you can call ahead and they will try to accommodate you.

Do you butcher your own animals on-site?

No. Their cattle are sent to Gilligan’s Farm in Roscommon for processing, then returned to Stewart Family Farm for packaging and sale.

Is all the beef sold on the site reared on the farm?

Yes. The beef comes entirely from their own cattle, reared on their land. The animals are fed mostly home-grown feed (at least 70 percent), and finished with grass or their own ration.

How long is the beef hung before processing?

Beef is hung for 2–3 weeks prior to processing, depending on the individual animal and fat cover.

What if the “Family Box” is out of stock?

If the “Family Box” is not available, you can call or email the farm, they can create a custom box. Otherwise the Family Box should return to stock within approximately a week when fresh beef is processed and returned from the butcher.

Can I order a custom box for delivery instead of a preset box?

Yes. If none of the preset “Family Boxes” match your needs, you can request a custom box via phone or email. They recommend including 6–12 items to ensure the box will stay frozen during delivery.
