Kitchen 28 is a local gem in Wicklow, offering a fresh take on the everyday café and deli experience. Known for its honest approach to food, this place brings together the flavours of local produce, seasonal ingredients, and genuine hospitality. The menu centers around high-quality organic food, prepared daily with care. Breakfasts here are wholesome and satisfying, think perfectly cooked eggs, handmade granola, and bakery treats that actually taste homemade. At lunchtime, the focus shifts to gourmet sandwiches and vibrant salads, packed with flavour and made to order. Every dish feels like something you’d want to recreate at home, except you don’t have to; the team at Kitchen 28 has already done it beautifully for you.
What makes Kitchen 28 stand out in Wicklow’s growing café scene is its balance of comfort and quality. The space has the warmth of a neighbourhood spot, where regulars pop in for a coffee and end up staying for lunch. Their selection of locally roasted coffee shows their dedication to working with regional suppliers, keeping the focus on freshness and community. Even the treats, brownies, cookies, tarts are baked in-house, which adds a personal touch that chain cafés often miss. This isn’t just about eating well; it’s about feeling looked after. The relaxed atmosphere invites both quick visits and leisurely catch-ups, making it ideal for locals and travellers alike.
Kitchen 28’s rotating menu reflects Wicklow’s changing seasons. The dishes rely heavily on what’s available from nearby farms and markets, giving every meal a natural connection to its surroundings. In summer, light salads shine with crisp greens and tangy dressings. When the weather cools, hearty soups and toasted sandwiches take over. It’s the sort of menu that never feels tired because it’s always responding to what’s fresh. The team values sustainability and taste in equal measure; they’d rather use fewer ingredients that are full of flavour than chase after unnecessary complexity. It’s a simple idea, but it works.
Many guests come here for breakfast, but the food keeps people returning throughout the day. There’s always something new, a special sandwich, a seasonal tart, or a new coffee blend to try. The attention to detail is clear from the counter to the table. Whether you’re taking a sandwich to go or sitting down for a full meal, everything feels carefully prepared. And because Kitchen 28 prioritises organic produce and mindful sourcing, you can enjoy every bite knowing it’s made with more than just convenience in mind.
Step into Kitchen 28, and you’ll notice the difference right away. The food has a freshness that stands out, and the people behind the counter actually care about what they serve. It’s the sort of place where you can taste the effort. For those in Wicklow looking for an organic food café and gourmet deli that combines warmth, quality, and sustainability, Kitchen 28 is a name that’s worth remembering. a month agoA rather pleasant place, though primarily functional. I tasted some good dishes, simple in appearance but carefully prepared, designed to produce a particular taste effect.

2 months agoNot going back there The food is below average but if you're starving you'd eat it I suppose The service is AWFUL! The young woman working behind the counter looks at you like she just want you to go away and leave her alone. I ordered my food online, advising them of an allergy and paid. I got an email that I can collect my food within 15minutes. When i came, I was told they couldn't make my order as it was pre-made and mixed together so they couldn't remove the allergen. I understand that and that would be ok if they let me know! But instead, the woman at the counter just was just looking at me and said: oh it's pre-made you know what I mean?...that was it... so i told her that i had paid for it already and was there anything else i could get instead. After a minute of looking at that vacant stare she said i could get a refund or some salad....i got the salad...it was a big portion i give them that but my 4year old could make a much tastier dish.....
