Great service, amazing food
Unfortunately O Dooles did not live up to expectations. We booked for 8.15 and were met at the door by a nice young gentleman and quickly shown to our table. We were given menus and our drinks order was taken. Drinks were delivered promptly. We ordered our food. The atmosphere was warm with good background music. Our food eventually arrived, we probably waited about an hour. My steak arrived and was cooked medium instead of rare and had garlic butter instead of pepper sauce and fries instead of mash. I can only describe the onions on top as awful. They were cold and soggy not hot and crispy as tobacco onions should be cooked. The waitress came and took back the steak and arrived with a new one with the same awful onions. I asked the waitress were they supposed to be served like that and she said she would ask, that was the last we seen of her. The steak again was overcooked and the mash was tasteless. My wife had the salmon and said it was good. We asked for dessert menus and we were then told that these were on the house. I had the pavlova and again I thought this was very poor, it wasn’t served as described on the menu. We asked for the bill and it arrived with no drinks on it and then we were told that they were comp. as well. In this day and age when charging these prices and advertising fine dining it is imperative to get it right. In my opinion our experience here was very poor. We would not be encouraged to go back.
The food is spectacular and the people are very nice.
I visited this restaurant with family and we were really looking forward to it. Unfortunately, what should have been an enjoyable and memorable experience was completely overshadowed by poor service, poor-quality food, and an unacceptable response from your staff. Having said that, when I visited this restaurant first (about two years ago), I boasted to people about the food, service and staff so it was quite a juxtaposition from my recent experience. From the outset, the service was dreadfully slow. We experienced lengthy delays throughout our visit, leaving us waiting far too long and significantly diminishing our enjoyment of the occasion. The quality of the food was equally disappointing. I sent my meat back. The lamb served to us was undercooked and not fit to be presented to customers, while the cauliflower side dish was burnt and inedible. On return of the dish, nothing changed. These are basic standards that any restaurant should be expected to meet, particularly on one of the busiest and most important dining days of the year. However, the restaurant was very quiet so I would have expected much better service. To make matters worse, when we raised our concerns, the female member of staff who dealt with us was extremely rude and dismissive. Rather than showing understanding or empathy, her attitude only added to our frustration and disappointment. The poor food reflected the staff’s poor behaviour and lack of genuine concern for their customers. I made a complaint regarding this visit and nobody even bothered to reply to me. Avoid avoid avoid!!!!!
